The selections from Dogie Music were, in some cases, ones that I have heard before. In fact at least one of them (Utah Carroll)appears on another of Gorman's albums. However, others like The Goodnight-Loving Trail and Cowboy Takes In a Square Dance make Dogie Music well worth acquiring. In Windy Bill, you get to hear a bit of the sometimes humorous and sometimes acrimonious competition between Western and Southwestern cowhands. Even old standbys benefit from a studied lack of political correctness. And, as usual with Skip Gorman's albums, the songs' history and origins are well documented.
